You know how some people do something once and then reckon they’re an expert? Well, I worked on the Secret Garden Festival production week for the first time last month (largely painting signs…), and now my mates and I reckon we can chuck a film festival.
It shall be très bon.
Truth is, we’ve been planning this for a while in our minds and hearts, and we thought it was about time we started planning it on paper and in excel worksheets.
We have a website.
We have accepted submissions from all over ze globe through filmfreeway.
We have a clifftop backyard.
We have some strapping young folk who are willing and able to construct a large screen for us (that’s actually Klaus and I).
We even have the red plastic that we’ll use for a media wall, because who in their right mind wants to go to a film festival and not get papped?
But most importantly, we are still accepting submissions of films 3 mins and under.
So it’s happening. Freshflix Independent Film Festival.
Fest your eyes on our exclusive promo video we shot yesterday arvo. Nothing like a bit of bossa nova to gloss over an uncomfortable situation.
Thanks Crangle and Klaus for being such excellent sports.
By coincidence it had a few similarities of the 2012 Absolutely Fabulous episodes aired shortly after we shot it. We were jazzed as the eternally hysterical Jennifer Saunders is our creative role model and this basically proves that our minds are one.
Righto, so sometimes my mate Prudence Vindin and I like to dress up as old blokes and have a yarn. Today’s vid was shot last time I was in Australia over the new year down at my local RSL’s Bowlo. Keith and Kev, two old buggers originally discovered while shooting Wookie Error, had such a warm reception among our mates that we decided to give it another burl.
I finally got time to edit it between a multitude of social and less-social engagements and my newly acquired gainful employment which involved a hell of a trip to Canada to get my visa (hurricanes, cancelled flights, lost passports, evacuations, the circus that is Niagara Falls…) but I made it. So the content’s coming out a little slower now that I’m ‘getting that cash’ as an architectural designer, but on the horizon lurks yet another mural, more illustration, and a ton of videos.
Right, so just to familiarize you, my vast fan base (which at last count of the followers of this blog are numbering a total of zero but I have high expectations) with the other leading lady in Winning Formula… I’ve cracked open the vault to reveal treasures from waaaay back in December 2012. So not very long ago. Prudence Vindin and I got together under the banner of Heaps Funny Shorts and improv’d some characters. There are a few more unedited to come, like the boys in the image above, but here’s the link to the current 6 vids of the Wookie Error webseries.
